At times, I like to be cocooned in between the lines of books and yet feel liberated like a butterfly.
On one of my cocooned moments I came across the word 'Neuroplastic'. It refers to the fact that the brain is a malleable organ and it can constantly change (!) under stimulation. Neuroplasticity refers to the brain’s ability to restructure itself after training or practice.
I read a few interesting things to about neuroplasticity. Change takes place rather suddenly in the brain. Studies have shown that habits can be formed in as little as 7 days of repeated activity, but can dissipate just as easily. In other words, change comes naturally and quickly and can disappear just as quickly as it arrived. It also appears that “learning a variety of new things, rather than simply practicing old skills, may be most effective in terms of brain structure alterations”.
Having known this feature of brain I have no excuse not to learn new skills and perfect the existing ones. All I have to do is focus on what I want to be rather than questioning myself whether its achievable or not. It is probably due to the Neuroplasticity of the brain that most of our dreams are realized!
